| Jefferson County inmate found unresponsive, dies at hospital |

A man suspected by authorities of attempted murder was found unresponsive in his cell last week, according to a news release from the Jefferson County, Nebraska, Sheriff's Office. Mark L. Scheetz was later pronounced dead after what was described as a heart attack. Deputies arrested Scheetz, 61, on May 5 in Endicott after someone reported an assault. The deputies booked him into the county jail in Fairbury, suspecting him of attempted murder, terroristic threats, and assault. The news release did not describe the incident in detail. Read More. |
