Four prisoners at the Sullivan County (N.H.) jail have been indicted on charges of assault and destruction of property during an altercation with prison officers last month. Shawn Turnbaugh, 18, Frank Philbrook, 36, and Shawn Teeter, 21, are each facing a seven-year prison sentence for allegedly assaulting officers while in the custody of the corrections department. Roger Clough, 27, is also facing a possible seven years in jail for tearing a sink from the walls of a cell and smashing it. County officials reported inmates in the maximum security tier of the prison had set fire to their bedding and attacked officers during the night of April 28 and into the early morning of April 29. The indictments handed up by the Sullivan County grand jury on May 12 do not allege any fires were set, but do say instruments were used to attack officers. Both Turnbaugh and Philbrook allegedly used a mattress to push and/or hit three separate corrections officers. Teeter allegedly threw water on a corrections officer, according to the indictments. |
