City Woman Charged For Bringing Heroin To Inmate |

ROME — A Jamestown woman has been charged with drug possession and promoting contraband following an incident Sunday at the Mohawk Correctional Facility in Rome. According to police, New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision requested assistance at the facility for a possible Hazmat incident. Investigators from the Office of Special Investigations arrested a female visitor, Christine M. Robinson, age 47, from Jamestown, for bringing contraband into the facility for an inmate. While processing the contraband, which consisted of a gray powdery substance, an investigator began to feel lightheaded. He was transported to Rome Memorial Hospital for a medical evaluation and was later released. The New York State Police Contaminated Crime Scene Emergency Response Team responded to the facility and determined the substance to be heroin. Robinson was charged with third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance and first-degree promoting prison contraband. Read More. |
