On May 22, 2018 at approximately 8:05 AM offender Sean Garcia 178562 escaped from Colorado Correctional Center by climbing the perimeter fence. The Colorado Department of Corrections and local law enforcement were immediately notified. Offender Garcia was currently serving time for Weapons, Theft, and Public Peace charges out of Rio Blanco County. His Parole eligibility date was 1-14-2018 and his mandatory release date was 09-02-18. The incident is currently under investigation by the Office of the Inspector General and local law enforcement. Because it is an active investigation no further details can be released at this time.
