SOMERSET – An inmate from Philadelphia has been charged with assaulting a corrections officer Friday at SCI-Somerset, The Tribune-Democrat has learned. State police charged Canie Griffith, 30, Tuesday with aggravated assault, assault by a prisoner and simple assault for an incident Friday, online court records show. Trooper Scott Kemerer is listed as the arresting officer. Additional details were not provided by state police. A police information officer at Somerset said the investigating officer was gone for the day and did not make a press release. The charges are filed with District Judge Sandra L. Stevanus in Rockwood. An employee at the district court office said Stevanus does not permit release of criminal complaints on defendants subject to active warrants. Read More. |
