Duncan man faces charges of assaulting fellow inmate |

A 22-year-old Duncan man serving prison time faced charges on Monday of assaulting a fellow inmate in the Stephens County jail in September 2017. Christopher Ray Sanders made his initial appearance in Stephens County District Court, where he was charged with assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, court records indicate. He faces up to 10 years in prison, if convicted. Sanders was transported back to Stephens County from Lexington, where is serving a 10-year sentence for endeavoring to perform an act of violence, according to the district attorney's office. He was convicted in August 2017. The latest charge was filed in October 2017, and was in tandem with another man charged for his role in the alleged assault. Mayson Kale Phipps, 21, of Marlow, made his initial appearance in February in Stephens County court where he faced felony charges of assault and battery with a dangerous weapon and possession of a weapon by an inmate, court records indicate.
