The head of Harris County's (Texas) probation department is the target of a criminal investigation amid allegations that he downloaded pornography on his work computer. Paul Donnelly, 51, was abruptly suspended with pay Thursday afternoon from his $121,992-per-year job by the judges who hired him 18 months ago. Investigators from the district attorney's office escorted Donnelly out of his office Thursday afternoon. "The move was basically to try to preserve any evidence that may be available," District Attorney Chuck Rosenthal said Friday. Rosenthal said the investigation "centers around the use of county property." He said the matter is ongoing and declined to comment further. Donnelly, a married father of three, was not arrested and has not been charged with a crime, Rosenthal said. Donnelly was unavailable for comment Friday. |
