Female inmate dies after found unresponsive in cell at J. Reuben Long

Horry County, S.C. (WPDE) — A female inmate is dead after she was found unresponsive in her cell on Tuesday at J. Reuben Long Detention Center.

Sharon Kay Envey, 67, was found by a correctional officer around 6:30 p.m. The officer alerted staff medical personnel, who started CPR and called EMS.

Envey was transported to the Conway Medical Center, and was pronounced her dead a short time after.
