Sheriff puts plan in place following escape and capture of inmate |

Following the recent escape and capture of Harrison County prisoner Gary Gorman, Sheriff Tom McCool said his office has put plans in place to ensure that a similar incident won’t happen again. “After reviewing and talking with jail staff, out of a comedy of errors, to be honest with you — instead it’s not funny — a combination of new employees, lack of clear communication (and) lax adherence to certain procedures, I have taken steps this past week to ensure that a similar walk-off will not occur in the future,” the sheriff informed the Harrison County Commissioners Court at the court’s regular meeting, Monday.
