Inmate assaults on deputies on the rise at the El Paso County Jail |

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. (KKTV) Deputies are being attacked at the El Paso County Jail and it's happening more often. 11 News sat down with El Paso County Sheriff Bill Elder to see how bad the problem is. Elder said during the month of May, six deputies were attacked by inmates. There were the same number of attacks in March, although one incident didn't end with criminal charges being filed. Elder said part of the problem is a growing number of inmates. According to Elder, more than 1,700 inmates are being housed in the jail. That's up around 500 more inmates than in 2015. Read More. |
