An investigation continues into a scuffle that injured three officers at the Nevada State Prison in Carson City. Prison officials say the disturbance occurred yesterday after officers entered a housing unit to search for contraband. Three officers were treated at a hospital for minor injuries and released. One inmate received a shock by a Taser stun gun and four other prisoners were exposed to a chemical agent. Officials say the inmates recently were transferred to the prison from the High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs after being involved in unspecified "disruptive group activities." They say the latest incident reflects a "hardening of a violent segment" of the inmate population and the increased need for staff to supervise the prisoners. |
