| MCSO: Nearly half of work-furloughed inmates failed drug test |

More than 40 percent of Maricopa County inmates who were drug tested Thursday while in a work-furlough program tested positive for drugs. As result of that and nearly a dozen overdoses by participants in the past year, Sheriff Paul Penzone is promising to overhaul the program. The Maricopa County Adult Probation Department runs the work-furlough program, which allows inmates to leave jail for 12 hours a day to go to work. Read More. |
