UNION COUNTY, SC (WSPA) - An Upstate prison contraband bust has left seven people charged. The Union County Sheriff’s Office says the suspects brought contraband to an inmate at Tyger River Correctional Institution. The medium-security prison is located in Spartanburg County. Deputies said the investigation started in April 2018. "Officers received information that he was getting cell phones, cell phone chargers, tobacco, cigarettes, marijuana and methamphetamine while inside the prison," the Union County Sheriff's Office said in a news release.
