OAK PARK HEIGHTS, Minn. (AP) — A maximum-security prison in Minnesota is on lockdown after an inmate assaulted a corrections officer. The state Department of Corrections says the officer was seriously injured during the altercation at Oak Park Heights prison on Wednesday. Authorities say the officer's injuries are not life-threatening. The Star Tribune reports the incident is under investigation. According to the Corrections Department, the on-duty sergeant was attacked by an offender Wednesday morning. The officer fought back and was assisted by other correctional officers. Read More. |
