Inmate considered armed and dangerous escapes Holmes County prison |

An inmate is on the run after escaping from the Holmes Humphreys Correctional Facility in Lexington. The escape happened early Wednesday morning.. Twenty-year-old Michael Amos is considered armed and dangerous. “I hate to see men throw their life away,” said Sheriff Willie March. Sheriff Willie March says deputies are spending Independence Day searching for Michael Amos. March says Amos left his cell and then used a sheet to break the lock on the back door of the facility. He then cut through the fence and ran away. “The frustrating thing is having an inmate escape from the facility,” added Sheriff March. This is not the first time the prison has had trouble with inmates breaking out. Back in September, Three On Your Side told you about four inmates who walked out of the same door and then Jumped the fence of the prison to rob a Dollar General.
