GEORGETOWN, Del. - A search is underway for a wanted inmate after Department of Corrections officials say he escaped during community service work in Delaware. The Delaware Department of Corrections says 29-year-old William Shelton, an inmate at Sussex Community Corrections Center (SCCC) in Georgetown, knowingly left the supervision of staff while performing community service near Adams Road in Greenwood, Delaware. Officials say Shelton fled on foot into a wooded area. Authorities say a warrant for escape after conviction was issued since Shelton whereabouts are unknown and unauthorized at this time.
