| N.C. death row inmate dies of natural causes |

A death row inmate convicted in 1990 of killing his 23-year-old son in Maysville died May 15 of natural causes, according to the N.C. Department of Correction. John Wesley Jones, 56, died at WakeMed Hospital in Cary. Jones had also received a 20-year sentence for assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill inflicting serious injury and a 10-year sentence for discharging a firearm into an occupied dwelling. Jones had been on death row since Aug. 16, 1990. |
