Jail inmate dies following suicide attempt |

KINGMAN — A Bullhead City man charged with 16 felonies died Thursday after attempting to hang himself in a county jail cell earlier this month. John Jesus Rodriguez, 29, had been in custody at the jail when he tried to hang himself July 10. He was revived and taken to a Las Vegas hospital. Rodriguez’s attorney, Ira Shiflett, told a judge Friday that he had an unconfirmed report that Rodriguez had died Thursday from injuries caused by the suicide attempt. Shiflett later confirmed that his client had died. Superior Court Commissioner Billy Sipe Jr. set another status hearing for this week. The prosecutor told Sipe he would formally dismiss the charges.
