| Inmate assaults guards: Jail officials talk about dangers of job |

FLOYD CO., Ky. (WYMT) -- An inmate at the Floyd County Detention Center is charged with assaulting two correctional officers. Officials say Jonathon Watkins attacked the officers as they opened the cell door. Although both officer's injuries are minor...in does not always end up that way. Working as a correctional officer is not your average everyday 9 to 5 job. Lieutenant Parker DeRossett says, "It can go from zero to one-hundred in the snap of a finger" Many of us have dealt with a disgruntled client or customer, but few are as disgruntled as someone going to jail. "When you see these people you're usually seeing them on the worst day of their life," DeRossett explained. "And they're that stressed out and that vulnerable they might not make the right decisions at that time." Read More. |
