| Upshur County jail inmate dies after self-inflicted harm |

An inmate in the Upshur County Jail who was found unconscious from self-inflicted harm July 19 died at Christus Good Shepherd Medical Center — Longview, Upshur County Chief Sheriff’s Deputy David Hazel said Monday. Hazel reported the Texas Rangers notified the sheriff’s office William Meadows, 27, of Longview died. The written statement does not give the date of death for Meadows, who was booked into the jail July 11 on charges of violation of probation and violation of a court order. Other inmates found Meadows unconscious in the shower of a multi-inmate cell July 19 and notified jail staff, who administered first aid. Read More. |
