Conn. lawmaker says cell phones don't belong in cells or any other part of state prisons. The House has given final approval to a bill making a cell phone a contraband item in prisons. Under the bill, someone passing a cell phone to a prisoner would be charged with a misdemeanor. Penalties would include up to a year in prison or a fine of up to $2,000. Employees or people who accidentally forgot they had a phone in their pocket or purse wouldn't be prosecuted. |
