| Troopers search for inmate who escaped from Stevens Correctional Center in Welch |

WELCH — A search was underway Monday for an inmate who escaped from a McDowell County corrections center with the aid of an outside person. The West Virginia State Police Welch detachment was notified Sunday that an inmate had escaped from the Stevens Correctional Center, Welch Holding Facility, according a statement issued by the state police. The escapee was identified as 39-year-old Charles Wentz, 39. He is 6 feet, 1 inch tall, weighs approximately 170 pounds, and has blue eyes and brown hair. Read More. |
