| Metro Jail inmates to receive GED certificates |

MOBILE, Ala. (WKRG) - Six inmates at Mobile Metro Jail will receive their GED certificate in a graduation ceremony at the jail on Tuesday morning. "Education is a way for these inmates to make a change in their lives and build a better future," said Mobile County Sheriff Sam Cochran, who will speak at the ceremony. "Some inmates will have to continue serving their time for the crimes they have committed and others will leave Metro having served their time." The GED program at Metro Jail began in 2009 for female inmates and expanded to all inmates in 2011. Tuesday, the program will graduate its 200th inmate. Read More. |
