ACI placed on lockdown after officer finds 'unidentified white powder' |

CRANSTON, R.I. (WPRI) -- The Adult Correctional Institutions Intake Service Center was placed on lockdown after a correctional officer found an envelope containing an "unidentified white powder." According to the Department of Corrections Public Relations Officer J.R. Ventura, the envelope was discovered at the Intake Service Center around 3 p.m. The Cranston Fire Department confirmed that they were responding to a hazmat situation at the ACI. "As a safety and security agency, we are prepared and have procedures in place for such incidents. We are following those protocols, organizing first responders, and taking appropriate safety measures," Ventura said in a statement to Eyewitness News. Read More. |
