The second member of a workhouse inmate duo who allegedly escaped from custody by stealing a truck from a school construction site was indicted Monday. William Henry Dean Harris, 30, of 1645 Hopeless Road, Dandridge, is charged with escape and theft over $10,000. He is being held at the Jefferson County Jail. Arraignments are set for September 4. On Monday, Grand Jurors returned 30 indictments and heard 25 presentments in 56 total cases. A single “no true bill,” resulting in dismissal of charges, was returned. Harris’s alleged partner in the April 12 escape, Jeffrey Allen Cross, 48, pleaded guilty to identical charges April 30 and was ordered to serve 35 percent of a total eight year sentence. Read More. |
