| Concord Corrections Sergeant Killed In Bicycle Crash |

CONCORD, NH — The Concord community is mourning a corrections sergeant killed in a bicycle crash on North Main Street this week. Patrick Bettens, 41, of Concord, died Wednesday. He was a father of two boys, Army veteran and New Hampshire Department of Corrections employee. "Pat was a long time employee and a tremendous asset," the NHDOC said in a statement. "Thoughts and prayers go out to his family and friends." The Concord Monitor reported police said Bettens was riding his bicycle Wednesday afternoon near the state prison when he was struck by a van from behind while trying to pass a parked vehicle.
