Lake County jail inmate found dead in cell, sheriff says |

A 31-year-old man from Park City died while alone in a maximum security cell at Lake County jail Wednesday morning, according to the Lake County Sheriff’s Office. An autopsy on the inmate, whose name was not reported in a sheriff’s office statement released Wednesday evening, is scheduled for Thursday by the Lake County Coroner. According to the statement, the inmate — who had been held on felony charges in the Waukegan-based jail for 64 days — was discovered unresponsive at approximately 11:05 a.m. in his cell in the Administrative Segregation Unit (ASU). “ASU is the maximum-security section of the jail, and all cells only house one inmate per cell,” the statement added. “The inmate was placed in ASU due to disruptive behavior and threatening harm toward other inmates.” Read More. |
