Local program helping inmates begin recovery from addictions behind bars |

A local program for inmates who get treatment for substance use disorder while in jail and after they get out is working, according to speakers at the South Central Opioid Summit. The New Beginnings program is a partnership between Monroe County Jail officials, circuit court judges, probation officials and Centerstone counselors. A Wednesday morning session highlighted services for jail inmates seeking addictions treatment through the New Beginnings program. Since 2017, 68 men and 14 woman have been enrolled in the re-entry program funded by Recovery Works reimbursement dollars from the state. Read More. |
