A third King County (Wash.) Jail corrections officer has been arrested this month on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a prisoner. King County sheriff's detectives arrested the 34-year-old officer last week in his home after they learned he may have committed sexual misconduct with a female prisoner 2 1/2 years ago, deputy Travis DeFries said. Two other officers were arrested earlier this month in a misconduct investigation involving a different prisoner. DeFries could not provide details last week about the severity of the new case, the woman's age, or whether the alleged acts were forced or consensual. The arrested officer's name was not released. The corrections officer has been cooperating with detectives and will not likely be booked into jail until county prosecutors file formal charges, DeFries said. The woman is no longer in the King County jail system, he said. On May 5, two other male corrections officers, ages 45 and 39, were arrested on suspicion of sexual misconduct with a different female prisoner, age 27, within the last few months. Last week's arrest was a byproduct of that investigation. Sexual intercourse between a corrections officer and an inmate is a felony, even if consensual. Lesser, consensual sexual contact between an officer and inmate would be a misdemeanor. |
