Prison officer hospitalised after being struck in neck by inmate with syringe |

POLICE are investigating an incident at Bathurst Jail at 8am on Monday where a correctional officer was “struck” in the neck with a syringe. Crime Manager, Det Inspector Luke Rankin, said police were interviewing witnesses and it was likely charges would be laid. A spokesperson for Corrective Services NSW said they are undertaking a review after the officer, who has since been discharged from hospital, was injured. The spokesperson said the Immediate Action Team was conducting a search of a cell when an inmate failed to comply with directions. Read More. |
