Another deputy jailer attacked in Shelby County

This latest attack on a deputy jailer happened on May 22. A Shelby County (Tenn.) spokesman says two inmates attacked the jailer and one of them hit the jailer with his fist.
The name of the injured jailer has not been released pending notification of his family. This is just the latest in a series of attacks on jailers. Last month, 37-year old John Spates, an inmate at the jail, attacked a female jailer with the blade from a disposable razor. That jailer, Patricia Campbell, wasn't seriously injured.
Back in March, another inmate, Robert Kelly, attacked another female deputy jailer, Olivia Mills. The sheriff's department said it took another deputy to mace Kelly to bring him under control. The other officer injured his wrist in the fight, but neither of them was seriously injured.
Some deputy jailers say the proposed privatizing of the jail will only increase violent incidents like these.
