All United States flags and Minnesota flags to be flown at half-staff at all state and federal buildings Oct. 2 as family, friends and coworkers honor and remember of Minnesota Corrections Officer Joseph Parise. Parise died Sept. Sept. 24 while on duty at the Minnesota Correctional Facility in Oak Park Heights. Parise, 37, of Forest Lake, leaves behind a wife, Andrea, daughter and a baby due in the spring. He served in the U.S. Navy prior to becoming a correctional officer. "Parise enjoyed shooting, playing racquetball, cats, his beloved honor guard, spending time with his wife and playing with his beautiful sweet little girl," according to a release from the office of Governor Mark Dayton. According to a spokesperson with the Minnesota Department of Corrections (DOC), Parise died after suffering a medical emergency while on duty. Read More. |
