CLEVELAND — A convicted rapist sentenced to serve thousands of years in an Ohio prison died by suicide last week. Ronnie Shelton, who was convicted of raping more than 30 women in a string of attacks in Cleveland in the 1980s, suffered a fractured skull when he jumped off a building at Grafton Correctional Institution on Sept. 25. Shelton was pronounced dead at a Cleveland hospital later that day. Ohio Department of Rehabilitation and Correction spokeswoman Jo Ellen Smith declined to comment, citing an ongoing investigation.
