Mountain View Correctional Facility achieves outstanding accreditation score

CHARLESTON — The Maine Department of Corrections Mountain View Correctional Facility completed its American Correctional Association (ACA) accreditation audit on Oct. 3, achieving a score of 99.6 percent of all standards.

The ACA audit occurs every three years and assesses the facility compliance with 529 correctional standards. The audit consists of a three-day thorough review of all security operations, treatment programming, medical/mental health, and food services. The 99.6 score indicates an exceptional level of operation and performance by facility administration, staff, and service partners.

Maine Department of Corrections Commissioner Dr. Joseph Fitzpatrick expressed that he was proud of all staff at the Mountain View Correctional Facility and felt that their accomplishment during this ACA audit exemplifies them as an elite team of correctional workers, when compared to colleagues on a national level. The audit team was a national panel comprised of three seasoned correctional administrators, who have in-depth experience and expertise in a variety of correctional areas. The ACA audit team described the personnel and operation of Mountain View Correctional Facility as extraordinary and remarkable in their experience on a national level.
