An inmate from Martin County (Fla.) who walked off a prison work line and allegedly stole two bicycles and a car while giving the slip to law enforcement officers along the Treasure Coast, was captured last Sunday in Daytona Beach, according to police reports. William T. Hawley was charged last Sunday with possession of cocaine, possession of drug paraphernalia and theft, a Volusia County Jail spokesman said. Hawley, 42, will also be charged with escaping, a state Department of Corrections spokeswoman said. "His custody level will be so high now, he won't be allowed outside the prison fence again," Florida Department of Corrections spokeswoman Debbie Buchanan said. Hawley was serving a 10-year prison term for fleeing police, grand theft, burglary and cocaine possession. |
