SCDC: Woman brings meth, painkillers to inmate during visitation |

A woman is facing contraband and drug trafficking charges after state prison officials say she brought meth and painkillers to an inmate during a visit. According to warrants, a woman gave an inmate at Evans Correctional Institution tobacco, 33 grams of meth and 36 tablets of Buprenorphine, a highly addictive painkiller that is sometimes used to treat addiction. The documents did not name the inmate at the medium-security Bennettsville prison, which houses more than 1,200 males. Nikia M. Perkins was arrested Sunday and charged with attempting to furnish a prisoner with contraband, possession of a schedule III controlled substance and trafficking methamphetamine.
