Revised visitation policies include new tablet computers for Lake County jail inmates |

Jail inmates and their families will get a break on fees for phone and video visitation, and a new computer tablet system for inmates will be introduced next year as part of changes made by the Lake County Board to a new two-year contract with a prison technology company. A tablet will be issued to every inmate free of charge in early 2019 by Securus Technologies of Carrollton, Texas, but the devices will not have internet connections, social media access, camera or video capabilities, according to a statement issued by the county.
