Beaten inmate sues county
By Biloxi Sun Herald

Michael Coughhorn, an inmate from Jackson County (Miss.) who was severely beaten last year by another inmate, filed a $9.5 million lawsuit last Wednesday against the county and the Sheriff's Department alleging inadequate supervision at the jail.
Coughhorn, who suffered severe brain and neurological damage after the April 2004 assault at the Jackson County Adult Detention Center, claims in the suit that county and jail officials are liable for his injuries because the detention center was improperly staffed and officers were improperly trained.
