FLORENCE — A confrontation between two inmates turned deadly Sunday at the high-security U.S. Penitentiary. According to prison spokesman Marlan Bacon, an altercation between the two inmates occurred shortly before 8 a.m. Sunday. Staff began life-saving measures and emergency medical personnel were called to the prison to assist with treatment and transport to a local hospital. Inmate Maxie Graham, 37, was pronounced dead at the hospital. Bacon said no staff members or other inmates were injured. Read More. |
