A 37-year-old Phillipsburg man serving nearly two years didn't return Monday night to Northampton County's work release facility, according to the Department of Corrections. Jasmond R. Stepney pleaded guilty Sept. 27 in two retail theft cases -- one from June 2, to a charge of receiving stolen property, and the other from May 9 -- and got concurrent sentences putting him in jail for 11 months, 29 days to 23 months, 28 days, records show. The theft charge in the June case was withdrawn as part of his plea, records show. He was allowed work release and was to pay $499.99 in restitution to Kohl's. Read More. |
