WRJ inmate dies after being found unresponsive in cell

BARBOURSVILLE - An inmate at Western Regional Jail in Barboursville has died after he was found unresponsive in his jail cell Monday, according to state officials.

Jail employees provided medical assistance to the man, Chad Totten, before he was taken to an area hospital by ambulance, where he was pronounced dead, according to Lawrence Messina, director of communications for the West Virginia Department of Military Affairs and Public Safety.

His body has been transferred to the state medical examiner's office for an autopsy.
