Female inmate escapes while being transported to Denver detention facility |

An inmate escaped Wednesday while being transported from a Jefferson County jail to a Denver detention facility, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Office. Leigha Bowie, 33, was one of several female inmates being transported to locations along a pre-determined route. Bowie was dropped off at a work release facility near West Colfax Avenue and Simms Street around 7:40 a.m., according to the Sheriff's Office.
