Vernon officials search for escaped inmate |

Vernon Parish authorities are continuing their search today for an escaped inmate who walked away from a local storefront he was allowed to assist at as a trustee. Floyd Laird, 48, reportedly walked away from the Helping Hands Store in Leesville some time after noon on Tuesday, according to authorities, where he was assisting with stocking and moving merchandise. As of Tuesday night, he was still at-large. Sheriff Sam Craft said that Laird had apparently stolen camouflage clothing from the store and changed out of his orange jumpsuit before leaving the store on foot. Read More. |
