Corrections union fights for better deal, invites Gov. Ricketts back to negotiation table |

LINCOLN, Neb. — Nebraska Department of Corrections officers and union representatives are fighting for better wages and said they're at an impasse when it comes to their pay. They're prepared to take the matter before the Court of Industrial Relations, but before that hearing in February they're asking Gov. Pete Ricketts for a better deal. "The buck stops with the governor," said Jason Swedlund, a mental health security specialist at the Lincoln Regional Center. "He's the one that's in charge of everything." Swedlund has been at his job for 15 years. He and other corrections employees are offering Ricketts a seat at the negotiation table, hoping to bargain a better deal. Read More. |
