Inmate attack drags trio back to court |

An after-hours ambush on a fellow inmate late last year has landed a trio of Ripley County Jail prisoners in even more legal trouble. Jeremy Betz, 44, Versailles, was sleeping in a top bunk on the night of Dec. 18, 2018, when Dakota Fraley, Christian Stewart and Robert Wright unleashed their attack, according to a probable cause affidavit filed Feb. 4 in Ripley County Courts. Ripley County Sheriff's Office jail administrator Robert Curl was notified of the incident, captured on video, later that morning by jail officers Jason Bolt and Jacob Satchwill. Just before 1:30 a.m., the trio approached Betz's bed in cell block 215, Stewart allegedly swinging a sock containing an unidentified object and striking the victim. He continued to do so as Wright yanked Betz to the ground by his leg. Fraley entered the fray at this point, forcing Betz to double over with a kick to the groin. Read More. |
