Fugitive wanted for Mass. vehicular homicide captured in RI, state police say |

Massachusetts State Police said a man who fled the scene of a fatal crash in New Bedford on Wednesday was arrested in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, three days later. State police located and arrested the fugitive vehicular homicide suspect, identified as 21-year-old James Bennett-Werra, of Easton, on Saturday with the assistance of the Massachusetts Department of Corrections, the Massachusetts Department of Parole and Rhode Island police. According to state police, Bennett-Werra was already a fugitive two days before he caused the fatal crash. He was previously convicted of assault and battery on a family or household member and carrying a dangerous weapon. After serving time in prison, he had been paroled to a family member's home and was ordered to wear a monitoring bracelet. Read More. |
