Nash County, N.C. — In a press conference on Monday, Nash County Sheriff Keith Stone said that other inmates alerted jail officials immediately when they noticed five prisoners escape last week. Stone said five inmates forced their way through a fence in the exercise yard at the Nash County Detention Center at about 3:30 p.m. on March 25 and made their way into a wooded area, where they were picked up by accomplices. On Monday, Stone shared additional details about the escape, confirming that the escapees had help and were picked up in cars after the jailbreak. The accomplices will be charged with harboring a fugitive, Stone said. Read More. |
