ROCKFORD — A Winnebago County corrections officer was attacked in the county jail Sunday by an inmate awaiting trial on charges of murder, sheriff’s police said. Sanchez Curry, 26, was charged with aggravated battery to a corrections officer. Curry struck the officer numerous times on the head, causing significant facial injuries, according to Winnebago County Corrections Superintendent Bob Redmond.
