Green Haven correctional officers treated for smoke inhalation following cell fire

Two Green Haven Correctional Facility officers were treated for smoke inhalation following a cell fire, according to state Department of Corrections and Community Supervision.

The officers were responding on Monday to "a small fire in an incarcerated individual's cell," said Thomas Mailey, DOCCS spokesman in a statement.

"Staff using their fire response training for such incidents, quickly evacuated the housing block and ‎extinguished the fire," Mailey said. "Two staff members were treated at a local hospital for smoke inhalation and were subsequently discharged."
