| 3 Donovan state prison inmates seriously injured in 7-on-1 attack |

OTAY MESA — Three inmates were hospitalized with serious injuries after seven prisoners attacked one inmate Thursday morning at a state prison in Otay Mesa, authorities said. A fourth inmate sustained less-serious wounds in the brawl, which happened a few minutes after 11 a.m. on the Facility C yard at Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility, according to California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation officials. Prison officials said the seven inmates surrounded the lone prisoner and used a cane to strike him in the head. The man being attacked attempted to run, but when the other inmates chased him, he pulled out an inmate-crafted weapon and fought back, authorities said. Read More. |
